Simulated Divided Lites
A traditional look with modern technology. Achieve classic elegance while maintaining the efficiency of today's insulated glass.
Classic Aesthetics, Modern Performance
Simulated Divided Lites (SDLs) provide the classic look of multi-pane windows while keeping the high thermal efficiency of modern glass. We install precision shadow bars inside the glass unit, allowing for a seamless application of exterior bars to complete the authentic feel of a traditional window.
Profiles & Dimensions
Choose the right depth and shape for your architectural style. Our heavier gauge aluminum ensures straightness and resistance to flex.
Flat Profile
Available Widths: 3/8" x 3/4"
Classic contoured aesthetic with a refined metallic or dark finish. Ideal for 1/2' to 5/8' airspace.
Flat Profile
Available Widths: 1/2" x 3/4"
Bold, modern flat lines for a striking architectural statement. Ideal for 5/8' to 3/4' airspace.
Precision & Craftsmanship
Our SDL systems are engineered for lasting precision and stability. By using high-gauge aluminum and specialized internal reinforces, we ensure every grid remains perfectly aligned, silent, and structurally sound for the life of the window. Here is the Clearrex approach to building them better.
Durable Aluminum
Our high-gauge aluminum is selected for its superior thickness and structural weight. This premium material provides long-term rigidity, ensuring every grid maintains its straightness and clean profile for years.
Invisible Corners
Our precision corner keepers are engineered to be completely hidden within the system, creating seamless, shadow-free joints that maintain a clean, one-piece architectural look.
Anti-Rattle Bumpers
The central cross-sections contain precision-engineered internal bumpers to mitigate any rattling, vibration, or internal damage during the lifespan of the window.
Precision Cutting
Our sophisticated automated cutting equipment outputs incredibly precise, clean cuts that align perfectly to a tight final tolerance of ± 1mm.
The SDL Difference
The true SDL difference lies in how visual depth and character are created. These windows are typically constructed using one of three primary configurations to match your desired aesthetic.
Internal Muntin Bar Unit
The grilles are installed completely inside the insulated glass unit between the two panes of glass. There are no exterior SDL's applied to the outside or inside surfaces. The glass remains completely smooth on both sides, and provides dust-free maintenance.
SDL Without Internal Bars
Exterior SDL's are permanently applied to the interior and exterior surfaces of a sealed glass unit. The airspace between the two panes of glass remains entirely empty. This provides the external texture of separate window panes but lacks the depth of traditional windows when viewed from an angle.
SDL With Internal Bars
This configuration combines the first two methods to mimic a traditional True Divided Lite window. Exterior SDL's are applied to the exterior and interior glass surfaces. An internal shadow bar is also installed between the glass panes. This creates the illusion of completely separate glass panes while maximizing the thermal performance of a modern window.
